Special Announcement History of the Catholic Church On Tuesday, September 14, 2010 we will be kicking off a study through Church history at 4709 Bosque Blvd. in Waco. We invite all men throughout our parishes to this exciting study.Course Overview The workbook augments the Epic: A Journey Through Church History study by guiding you through your adventure and learning the story of the Catholic Church. Over the next several weeks, you will: *Learn about the major people, places, and events of the past two-thousand years in Church History *Learn about the major people, places, and events of the past two-thousand years in Church history *Know the twelve time periods of Church history with the unique color-coded system *Learn the true story of Crusades *Understand the rationale for the medieval inquisitors and the Spanish Inquisition *Discover the revolutionary character of the Protestant Reformation In this study, you will learn the story of the Church through a video or audio presentation by Church history professor Steve Weidenkopf, followed by group discussion. Supplementary materials (including responses to the questions, a full-color chart, and a bookmark) are used to reinforce the lesson and will help you remember the Church’s story for years to come. The men of the Austin Diocese are invited to a monthly prayer breakfast held on the second Thursday of each month at the Diocese of Austin Pastoral Center (6225 Hwy 290E) from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m
The next Prayer Breakfast meeting is scheduled for: Thursday, May 13th - The Relevant Radio show “Its Your Call” will be taped at the prayer breakfast for broadcast at a future date. The show is hosted by Pat Ryan and features Bill Moyer and his son Billy sharing insights from their book (Seeds of Success: A Journey from Success to Significance) and discussing issues facing Catholic men and effective leadership. This show will address the topic “Answering God’s Call” (Those attending the breakfast will receive a complimentary copy of Bill and Billy’s book) Thursday, June 10th - The Culture of Life – Catholic Teaching, Scientific Advances and Medical Decision Making presented by Linda Carson, a hospital chaplain for the past 14 years.
